Walther Lutheran Academy Track and Field: May 2012

You couldn't ask for a better day weather-wise. Warm and sunny, with just a slight, cool breeze. Not a drop of rain; not even a hint. And not only was the weather great, but the team did a great job also!
The Academy was well represented and won a fair share of the events. Overall, the Varsity boys got 2nd place as a team earning 87 points, and the girls' JV team was 4th, earning 61 points total.

As always, it begins with the warm-ups.

We got smart this year and found a shady place to hang out between races.
Thanks to the parents who provided the blankets!

First Race of the Day: 100 Meter Dash Prelims (Girls 5-6)

Ready...

...Set...

Go!!!! And off she went to qualify for the finals with a time of
16.63 seconds (7th place overall in the prelims).

Shot Put

He makes it look so easy!

His best throw was 33 feet even, earning him second place.

And representing the 5-6 girls...

Final throw was 18 feet, 6.75 inches. Good job!

100 Meter Dash Prelims Continue (Boys 7-8)

Another qualifying run for the finals! Well run.
This makes him seeded for 5th place in finals. Official prelim time: 13.96 seconds.

Next up: 100 Meter Hurdles (Girls 7-8)

Impressive!

Time: 28.20 seconds.

110 Meter Hurdles (Boys 7-8)

Not an easy task!
He finished in second place with a time of 19.48 seconds.

Triple Jump (Girls 7-8)

This jump earned her 7th place with a distance of 22 feet, 9.75 inches.

Linda S. also did the Triple Jump for the JV girls. She jumped 18 feet, 6.25 inches, earning a 3rd place ribbon!! Great job, Linda (sorry, no photo).

4 x 200 Relay (7-8 Boys)

The team effort got them a second place finish with a

Time for the 400 Meter Run (Girls 5-6)

Fourth place finisher with a time of 1:26.40.

Winning the event!
Final time was 1:11:00. This tied last year's record
for this meet, also set by the same runner.

400 Meter Run (Boys 5-6)

Coming in for a third place position. Time: 1:15.07.

400 Meter Run (Boys 7-8)

Another first place finisher with a time
of 1:05.72.

Also earning points for the team and finishing in 7th with a time of 1:13.49.

With barely any time to rest, it was time for the
MILE (Boys 7-8)

1st place time: 6:10.00

2nd place time: 6:18.60

Long Jump (Boys 7-8)

Our only long jumper today. He got 8th place with a distance of 12 feet, 4 inches.

Time for the 4 x 400 meter Relay (Boys 7-8)

Hard work and clean hand-offs earned them FIRST PLACE!!!!

Final time: 5:03.91.

5-6 Girls

There are no pictures for this event, but it needs to be known that Esther M. got 2nd place in this event with a distance of 53-04. Supurb throw!!!

Tatiana W. got 6th place and threw a distance of 42-07.

Nice job, ladies!!!!
